Obituary

William Merrill Sorenson, 45, passed away on Friday September 8, 2023 in Newport, Washington. William was born on May 26, 1978 in Coeur D'Alene Idaho. He lived in Cocolalla, Idaho during his early childhood years.

As a boy, "Willie" spent his time like a typical country boy, catching frogs and turtles, playing in the lake and riding dirt bikes. In 1986, the family moved to the Spokane Valley where he spent the rest of his childhood years. In his late teens, William moved to Pend Oreille County WA with his parents to a lovely log cabin on a beautiful piece of rural land. It was here that he spent the remainder of his life.

Will worked in the logging business and was a pretty darn good mechanic, often found out back working on one of his project vehicles. Will loved to shoot targets with a bow and arrow and was a very good aim. He liked to hunt and fish, often bringing home a fat trout for mom to cook for their dinner. Will sometimes spent his free time panning for gold in creeks north of Sandpoint and lived his entire life playing outdoors in the beautiful PNW. He loved the Lord and was instrumental in getting his mom involved in The New Testament Church where he was a regular member.

Will, a son, brother, father, and friend to many, tragically fell victim to addiction, which clouded his adult life, a fight he battled and lost. Nonetheless, he was beloved to many and will be sorely missed. We are sharing this only in hopes that someone reading this who suffers as well will seek help. We pray that no other family has to endure our sorrow. William is preceded in death by his father, Merrill Sorenson, Stepfather Ernest Rohrer and wife Mary White. William is survived by his loving mother, Dorian Rohrer, brother Rick Peterson, sister Pamela Watts, sister Christine Halvorson, Step siblings Tom and Allene Rohrer, four sons: Cody, Brandon, Cole and Evan and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
