Vergie Lee
Zwarg
May 16, 1927 — Apr 7, 2026
Mead
Vergie was born May 16, 1927, in Weiser, Idaho, to Jack and Ruby Dalton. She was the second of nine children.
Vergie spent her childhood and young adult life in the Snohomish and Seattle area surrounded by her large family. It was there that she met and married Kenneth Otto Zwarg on December 14, 1946. Together they brought six wonderful children into the world.
In the early 60s, the family moved to the Spokane area. After a series of difficult circumstances, Vergie went to work at Holy Family Hospital where she was a faithful worker for over 25 years. It was during this time that Vergie demonstrated to her children and all who knew her a life exemplified by hard work, steadfast loyalty to family, and sacrificially putting the needs of others before her own.
Vergie spent her retirement years in Newport, Washington, on "the ranch" next to her son, Ken Jr. and family. She spent many years enjoying gardening, her pets, reading, and numerous family gatherings with children and grandchildren.
In recent years Vergie was lovingly cared for by her daughter Janet, with help from her sister, brothers, caregivers, and neighbors. A very special thank you to Pati, Carolina, and Conception.
Vergie was preceded in death by Kenneth Zwarg in 1977, son Douglas in 2020, and daughters-in-law, Linda in 2016 and Debbie in 2025.
Vergie is survived by sisters Myrna, Lona, and Kathie; her children, Steve, Anne (Bob) Janet (Roy) David (Liz) and Ken Jr., 16 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, and numerous great-great grandchildren and extended family members.
A family and friends open house gathering will be held on her birthday, May 16,1PM at 4604 E. Sorrel Ave., Spokane, WA 99217. Contact any family member for more information
