Spokane Valley
Trevice "Wayne" Rucker
April 14, 1940- October 27, 2021
Wayne was born in Prosser, WA to Trevice William and Esther (Laisure) Rucker. Wayne's family lived in central Washington until the family moved to Dickens, Nebraska when Wayne was five years old. The family returned to central Washington when Wayne was ten years old. Wayne visited family in Los Angeles, CA when he was 18 years old. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1959. He served five years, including two tours in Germany. He took pride in being a veteran. While stationed at Fort Knox, Wayne met Nancy (Seitz) and they married and eventually moved back to central Washington, bringing Nancy with him. They had 20 years together.
Wayne drove truck out of Cusick, WA, near Newport, where he met Karen (Kanikeberg). They married and spent 37 years together. He was a devoted husband, calling out for Karen to his last breath.
Wayne spent most of his years as a commercial driver. He drove the city bus, the Red Cross Blood Drive truck and spent a lot of time as a long-haul truck driver. He and Karen enjoyed driving long haul together for many years.
Wayne was often looking for fun and always seemed to find it. He was a trophy winning dancer. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as playing cards, golfing and bowling. Most of all he LOVED children! He had numerous nieces and nephews (all the way to great-great-greats) as well as his (step) grandchildren and great grandchildren that he entertained with his jokes and kept on their toes with his pranks. All children brought him joy and he was a favorite uncle to many. Wayne was always there for anyone that needed help, especially his parents.
In March of 2021 Wayne was moved to a memory care facility in Spokane, WA due to the progression of his Alzheimer's Disease.
Wayne passed away peacefully with his family by his side.
Wayne was preceded in death by his wife Karen (Kanikeberg) Rucker, his parents, sister Sharon Patrick, brother Larry Rucker, nephew Eddie Johnson, niece Barbara Compogno and nephew Eddy T. Rucker.
Wayne is survived by Karen's children- Christine (Kevin) Dahlen, Cheryl (Jerry) Unruh and Gregory (Dawn) Johnson and their children and grandchildren, by his brother, Eddy G. (Betty) Rucker, his sisters, Donna Ramirez, Rhonda (John) Rothrock and Lorie (Mark) Layne, and way too many nieces and nephews to list.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
