Travis Kolassa
May 13, 1983 – January 8, 2026 Travis Kolassa, of Spokane, Washington, passed away on January 8, 2026, after a month-long battle with liver failure, in his mother's home, surrounded by love. He was 42 years old.
Born on May 13, 1983, Travis grew up in Spokane and attended Mead High School, where he formed lifelong friendships that remained important throughout his life. In his high school and younger years, music played a big role for Travis. He was a drummer in the band Nexus with his best friends — a role that fit him perfectly. Travis was known for his sarcastic sense of humor and quick wit. He had a larger-than-life presence and a way of being the biggest, most important person in the room in a magnetic way that naturally drew people toward him.
He worked as a cook at various restaurants over the years, taking pride in his work and enjoying the fast-paced rhythm of the kitchen. Outside of work, Travis loved billiards, cars, crotch rockets, and spending time with his friends.
In the end, the love Travis had for his friends — and the love they had for him — was undeniable. Friends gathered, reached out from near and far, and showed up in ways that proved just how deeply he was cared for. Even across time and distance, the impact Travis had on the people in his life was clear.
Travis will be remembered for his humor, loyalty, and the lasting imprint he left on those who knew him.
He is survived by his mother, Tina, and stepfather, Bryan; his sister, Amy, and her boyfriend, Randall; his half-sister, Amanda; his uncles, Bob and Mike; his aunt, Debra; his beloved daughter, Brooklynn ; as well as his nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Aunt Debra for the love and care she provided Travis during his final days.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. A CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be scheduled in the late spring or early summer. We will post that here.
