Thelma Elaine Vanderholm

Thelma passed away peacefully in her home while sleeping with her husband by her side on Feb 2, 2024, in Elk, WA.

Thelma was born in Burley, ID to Frank and Norma Edgar. She had three brothers, Larry, David, and Dean and one sister, Janet. She grew up on the farm and loved playing softball.

She attended Ricks College in Rexburg, ID, where she met Gary Vanderholm whom she married on April 30, 1976. Together they had eight children which they raised on a small farm in Elk, WA. Her faith and family were everything to her. She was a momma bear through and through. If she felt an injustice had occurred she was the first one in the ring fighting and boy could she fight. (Just ask anyone who had the privilege to teach her children.) But she also used that fierceness to correct her children if they were the ones in the wrong. She often showed others her truly caring side, especially her many grandchildren, who all adore her.

After her children were mostly grown she started working for the Chattaroy post office. There she spent many years delivering mail and building friendships. Also, at this time she opened her door and heart to an adopted son and two daughters. Her arms were truly full of love. May she enjoy her rest from earthy cares. Until we meet again.

Thelma is preceded in death by her father, sister, and grandchild, Chadden. She is survived by her husband, Gary Vanderholm, her children, Sheliah Miller, Jason Vanderholm, Ryan Vanderholm, Paige Theetge, Lillian Miskin, Brin Westenskow, Larissa Knutsen, Erin Schwebs, Justin Vanderholm (adopted), Natalie Wigington (adopted), and Stefany Wigington (adopted). Plus, her mother, brothers, 35 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Her funeral service will be Sat. Feb. 17, 2024 at 10:30 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. 34221 N. Newport Highway, Chattaroy, WA
