Shirley Ann Hansen-Gibson, 88, of Newport, WA, passed away on December 3, 2023. She was born on December 27, 1934, in Pocatello, ID, to the late Joseph Martinus Hansen and Thelma Ruth Finley. Shirley had a fulfilling career as a Para Educator Special Education in the Marysville School District. She had a passion for helping and supporting students with special needs. In her free time, Shirley enjoyed sewing, camping, and fishing. These hobbies brought her great joy and allowed her to express her creativity and love for the outdoors. Shirley was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she found spiritual guidance and solace. It was an important part of her life. She is survived by her loving son, David S. Hansen; daughter and son-in-law, Mary "Kathie" Carswell and Scott; stepson and daughter-in-law, Kenneth "KC" and Diane; brother and sister-in-law, Jared and Noreen; grandchildren: Robert, Hillary, Geoffrey, John, Brandon, Bryanna, Rachel, Mikhaila, Korey, Cassandra, Dakota, Dalton, Kaylee; great-grandchildren: Kayden, Kahlia, Evangeline, Izayah, Nolani, Reginae, Rocky Jr., Theodore, and Alaya; as well as several nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Evan Gail Hansen; sister, Elsie Caroline Lauver; husband, Dennis Clark Gibson; brother, David Lyle Hansen; and son, Robert Evan Hansen. A graveside service will be held at 1pm on December 15, 2023, at the Fountain Green Cemetery in Fountain Green, UT. The service will be officiated by Bishop Ron Oldroid of the Fountain Green Ward. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Sherman-Campbell of Newport, WA and Premier Funeral Services of Salt Lake City, UT.
A Memorial Service will be held in Marysville, WA at a later date. Shirley will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Her kind spirit, dedication to education, and love for her family will always be remembered. May she rest in peace.
