Sherry Leanne
(Wright) Gohr
Jan 17, 1945 — Apr 27, 2026
Priest River
Sherry Leanne Gohr, 81, of Priest River, Idaho, passed away surrounded by love on April 27, 2026.
Sherry Leanne Wright was born on January 17th, 1945, in Spokane, Washington, Sherry was a devoted mother, wife, sister, grandmother, and friend. She will be remembered as a radiant light, nourishing everyone with her fantastic meals, baked goods, and motherly warmth.
Sherry lived in Green Bay, Wisconsin for many years, where she married and had 3 children, until December 1980, when she returned to her birthplace with her children and adventurous spirit in tow, to start a new life closer to family. Helping people was her passion, and she enjoyed working at Rockwood Clinic in Spokane until her retirement.
Sherry was witty, spunky, contemplative, sassy, and creative. Her laugh was infectious, and her smile lit up the world. Baking, music, books, gardening, writing poetry, and special retreats to the Oregon coast with family where she relished the sound of the ocean brought her joyous fulfillment. Her family was everything to her and she loved living close to so many of them in Priest River.
Sherry inherited her love of words from her mother, award-winning poet Kathryn Hamshar, and is the author of the self-published poetry chapbook: "Primal Soup: I am Ocean, Hear me Roar."
Sherry is survived by her husband, Larry (Sam) Irvine, children, Shanna, Suzanne and Michael, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters, brothers, cousins, dear friends, and 'grandpups'.
A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sherry's honor to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. https://give.michaeljfox.org/
