Samuel 'Wade' Starnes Jr

Born March 3, 1962 in Big Lake, Texas to Samuel and Vinita Starnes and as a teenager was adopted by Arley 'Bill' and Patricia Lawrence.

Sam was an Army Veteran with accomplishments in marksmanship and mechanics. While serving Sam married Maria Montgomery and they had five amazing daughters, Tina Plante, Vinetta (Troy) Orcutt, Jessica (Erich) Plante, Samantha (Paul) Marti, and Meghan (Matt) Young.

Later he met Rose, his soul mate, and it wasn't long before they were wed and six more children added. Curtis (Cora) Johnson, Philip (Cassandra) Johnson, Melinda (Mike) Knott, Brandon (JacLynn) Johnson, Caden (Maya) Johnson, and Quenten (Shelby) Johnson.

Sam is survived by his wife Rose, ex-wife Maria, and all of their children, and sister Sandy (Jim) Walczak. His mother Patricia Lawrence, siblings Leigh (Doug) Ross, Adrian (Esther) Lawrence, Staci (Wayne) Duncan, Kenneth Lawrence, and Beth (Chuck) Wood. As well as 29 grandchildren and counting and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, adopted dad Arley Lawrence, grandson Kaden Hossfeld, and nephew Michael Walczak.

Sam passed away peacefully at home in Priest River, surrounded by loved ones, January 18, 2023.

Now Papa Sam can fish all day!

He will be interred at the WDVA Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake, Washington.

His celebration of life will be held March 3 at 1 p.m. at the LDS church between Newport and Priest River.
