Roy Daniel Etter, 83, of Oldtown, Idaho, passed away on November 28, 2025. He was born on November 8, 1942, in Boise, Idaho, to John William Etter and Jessie Margaret Fisher Etter. Raised in Elmira, Idaho with his brothers Emmanuel, James, Oren and Claud, Roy grew up with the values of hard work, faith, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors that stayed with him throughout his life.

Roy proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Military Police officer. Stationed at Fort Carson, CO and serving overseas in France. He completed three years of active duty and was honorably discharged. His time in the Army shaped his disciplined nature and reinforced the strong work ethic for which he was known.

In 1963, Roy married Joanne Marie (Cook) Anderson, and together they shared 25 years of marriage and raised two daughters, Denise and Chanda. Roy worked as a Forest Lookout for Kootenai County Forest Service, at the Colburn Mill as a millwright, and later used his maintenance skills as a mechanic.

A man most at home outdoors, Roy loved spending time in nature, hunting, and caring for his land. He loved his animals, especially German shepherds and horses, which were constant companions through different stages of his life. Roy also enjoyed many forms of music and held a strong Christian faith.

He is survived by his daughters, Chanda Rutherford and Denise Clanton; his grandchildren, London Gray, Sierra Trojan, and Axton Rutherford; and his great-grandchildren, Kaine, Kailus, and Octavia. Roy was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Emmanuel, James, Oren and Claud.

Roy will be remembered for his dependable spirit, his love of the outdoors, and his determined work ethic. His family takes comfort knowing he is at peace and reunited with loved ones who have gone before him.
