Ronnie Lee
Curteman
Oct 18, 1958 — Oct 15, 2022
Newport
Ronnie Lee Curteman, 63, was requested by the Lord too early on October 15, 2022. He peacefully passed away in the comfort of his home with his wife, Saundra, and youngest son Alfred, by his side.
Ronnie was born on October 18, 1958, in Riverside, California, to Elton and Joanna Curteman. After graduating high school in 1977, he joined the United States Navy and served for six years. Despite intending to retire from the Navy, he left the service and always greatly missed the sea. His marital union produced three boys who brought pride and purpose to his life.
He entered the construction field, where he earned his building, asbestos removal, and welding licenses. He mentored many in the field of
construction and liked to say, "I built most of LA." But do not call him "Puddin."
He later remarried, further enriching his life with a fourth son and a bonus son. He was known for volunteering his time and labor for friends and family. A master gardener, in his spare time, he would beautify each home's landscape for the enjoyment of his family. So beautiful was his garden work it graced the center fold of Better Homes and Garden. He entertained the movie industry as an "extra" in music videos where he enjoyed telling a tale or two. At age 55, he retired to Washington State.
After retiring, Ronnie spent his time barbequing, fishing, gardening, and hunting for rocks and crystals, with a heart for gold mining. He could make you laugh, cry and cuss all at the same time, depending on where his heart led him. He was great at making one laugh at themselves and was never shy of quick short comments that could make you feel guilty for laughing. He could never pass up a lottery ticket machine, although it never paid out. He purchased his best friend from Walmart, a 75-inch Samsung, for his retirement and was thankful to have time to recline.
Ron was predeceased by his father, Elton Leon Curteman.
He will be kept close in the hearts of his mother, Joanna, wife, Saundra, youngest son, Alfred, and sons Joshua (Monica), Jeremy (Lydia), Jacob, and bonus son, Philip. He was a proud grandfather to Joshua's children, Juliana, and Joshua James. A beloved brother to his three sisters, Bonnie Brazil (Randy), Linda Muesse (John), and Tammy Hernandez.
There will be no service. In an intimate gathering, his immediate family will lay Ronnie to rest privately with military honors at the Riverside National Cemetery.
In honor of Ronnie, "a simple man," and in lieu of flowers, purchase yourself a five-dollar lottery ticket as this was one of his frequent past times."
Thank you all and Randy, Jose' and Sal for the great times. Sherman-Campbell Funeral and Cremation Services in Newport, WA is in charge of arrangements. Family and friends are welcome to visit their website at www.shermancampbell.com
