Rita R. Little, a resident of Newport, WA and Pend Oreille County for more than 40 years, passed away at the age of 65 on Thursday, April 14th, 2022.

Rita and her husband Stuart E. Little, who proceeded her in death in 2011, returned to the Little family homestead on Conklin Meadows Road in 1992 after previously residing in Diamond Lake, WA. They met in 1975 while attending church in Spokane and were married in 1976 at the Skookum Creek Grange Hall. Rita is survived by her son Kent, daughter in-law Gretchen and three grandchildren. She is also survived by three older siblings, a sister in-law, brother in-law and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

Rita was born in Spokane, WA in 1956 at Fairchild Air force Base to Edward and Mabel Franke. Some of her favorite childhood memories included watching and feeding grey squirrels at the park near her childhood home and saving her lunch money to purchase candy after school. Rita attended community college in Spokane focusing on accounting and was employed by a temp agency before being hired at Newport Family Medicine in 1980. She continued to work in the Newport Hospital system until just before her passing sharing her expertise with numerous generations of staff, amazing coffee recipes and quilting tips. Rita also served as volunteer staff for Create of Newport and numerous churches in accounting. Her affinity for gardening, sewing, antiques, genealogy and love of the Lord will surely be missed.

A dual service in celebration of her life and her husband Stuart will be held at Newport Community Cemetery on Friday, May 6th at 1 p.m. Sherman-Campbell Funeral & Cremation Services of Newport is in charge of arrangements.
