Riet Westphal was born on January 19, 1932

and went home to be with the Lord on October 28, 2021.

She is preceded in death by her husband Ernst of 63 years and survived by her 5 children,

Mark (Penny) Westphal

Susan (Kevin) Fisher

She has 25 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.

Riet and Ernst move moved to the Cusick area in the Fall of 1979.

She did childcare for many years out of her home and she was involved with many community events. Her passion for wool and fiber has made her well known in the community.

School field trips to their farm and going to local elementary schools

showing how to spin wool from llamas and sheep and hair from rabbits and other animals.

She could always be found spinning and chatting in the Fleece & Fiber barn at the PO County Fair and at Heritage Days in Newport.

She helped to establish the Fiber Arts group at Create and participated in the many wool and fiber events in our corner of NE Washington.

She always enjoyed meeting new friends and getting folks involved in fun with fibers.

She was a member of the Pend Oreille Bible Church and Gideon's.

Despite health issues that slowed her down,

she liked getting out and being with friends and family as much as possible.

She was loved by the young and old alike and will be greatly missed.

Celebration of Life will be next spring
