Richard "Dick" Milton Frederick passed away on July 16, 2023, at the age of 92. Dick leaves behind his wife Jo of 72 years, two sons, Mike (Annie) Frederick, Steve Frederick, his brother Gary (Joye) Frederick, 5 grandchildren, Angie Stratton, Jason (Sharrisa) Frederick, Scott (Kelli) Frederick, Miranda Frederick and Jolie Frederick. Dick had 7 great grandchildren, Gracie and Jason Stratton, Austin, Reese and Callie Frederick and Harvey and Avery Frederick.

Dick was born to Katherine and Henry Frederick in Aberdeen, WA. He was raised in Pacific County. Dick attended Raymond High School where he met his lifelong love, Jo. He graduated in the Class of 1949. They raised their two boys in Willapa, WA. Dick worked in the grocery business for over 40 years. Dick knew almost everyone and if he didn't know you, he made sure to introduce himself. He was an avid sports fan. He coached his own boys and went on to be his grandkids biggest fan ever. Once Dick retired, he and his wife Jo decided to move to Newport, Wa in 1998 so that they could be closer to family. Dick became a Newport Grizzly through and through. He was on full time Grandpa duty, driving the youngest of the grandkids to ballet, gymnastics, soccer, volleyball, basketball, whatever activity was happening. He was the after school pick up guy and king of the snacks. Dick knew more of the parents and teachers of his granddaughters than their parents did.

Dick loved to keep stats for basketball and from 1998 on he would get to know every athlete and love that player like one of his own kids. He loved to give pep talks and share stats. Everyone of the girls knew they better improve their percentage from the line. Dick also was on a first name basis with several of the basketball referees. He liked to offer his thoughts when he felt they needed to hear them. Dick will be greatly missed as he was so loved by so many. We will miss all the love and laughter he provided our family.
