Norman Peterson, 94
On Sept. 15, 2021, the sun has set on the life of a Priest River native, Norman E. Peterson. He was born April 1, 1927 to Howard H. Peterson and Edith R. Pitts. He graduated from Priest River High School in 1945. He enlisted in the U.S. navy 1945-46, serving in the Asiatic Pacific Area as a Yeoman 34d class. After being discharged, he spent a life time logging and in the lumber mill business in the Priest River area.
He owned his own family business with his brother Evan, before going to work for Merritt Brothers Lumber Company in 1973. He worked for them 15 years before retiring in July 1987. He had the honor to be the "Bull of the Woods" in 2021.
He met Myrtle in 1972 and married her in 1973, and they built their home and life together over the next 48 years. He was a quiet, talented man who loved to read, play golf and enjoy life and will be missed by those who loved him.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, his brother Evan Peterson, sister Pauline Nossaman, and numerous aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle, sister-in-law, Barbara Peterson, nieces Jan Barbarino, Valerie Jackson, and Susan Yandt, and nephews, Tom Peterson, Daniel Peterson, Christopher Nossaman, and step son, Stephen Smith in California. No services will be held at this time.
