Murel Louis Ropp, 75, of Priest River, ID, passed away at Newport Hospital on Wednesday night of January 2 ^nd 2019.  He was born on December 3 ^rd , 1943 in Newport, WA, the son of Asa and Lucy (Arts) Ropp, who have both preceded him in death.

He married Valerie Dahl on December 19 ^th , 1970 in Pasco, WA and she survives.  Also surviving are their children Christina Pierson and Alan & Lisa (Ivie) Ropp; three grandchildren Amanda and Samantha Pierson and Brittney Ropp; Two great grandchildren Isabella and Hunter; One brother, Richard Ropp of Spokane, WA. Plus many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Murel was a retired United States Army Veteran.  He served from 1962 to 1982.  He fought in Vietnam for one tour and was a recruiter for many years.

Murel also was a very active member in the community of Priest River.  He was a member of the Lions Club for many years, an EMT, CPR and First Aid Instructor, and worked as a security guard for many different companies.  One of his greatest passions in life was riding horses and he was part of the Back Country Horseman.

The Celebration of Life will be held at the VFW Hall in Priest River, Idaho at noon on Saturday, January 12, 2019.  He was cremated and will not be buried.  Please contact the family for any other information.
