Michael "Mike" Joseph Murray, Sr. 81, of Newport, Washington, lost his battle with pneumonia and Alzheimer's at the Newport Hospital on December 26, 2019.

Mike was born July 22, 1938, in Spokane, Washington and was a long-time resident of Newport.  He graduated from Newport High School in 1958 and married Monica Hendrickson in 1959.  He was a member of the Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and a member of the Pend Oreille County Sheriff's Posse. He worked as an iron worker for most of his life.   Mike led a very active life.  He loved fishing, snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, hunting and gardening.

Mike is survived by his children, Michael Murray Jr., Teresa Durham and Dan Murray, his brother Robert (Bob) Murray and wife Linda Murray and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.   Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Beatrice Murray, brothers Delbert Murray, Patrick Murray and sister Helen Bohme and Monica Murray.

A celebration of Mike's life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 11, 2020 at St Anthony's Catholic Church, 611 N First St, Newport, WA 99156, Father Vic will be officiating.  There will be a reception in the basement and Burial at the Newport Cemetery.

Should family and friends desire, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association to help fight Alzheimer's.
