Obituary

Melford Ray Schrader, age 86, passed away September 23, 2019.  He was born March 25, 1933 in Deer Park, WA.  He was preceded in death by Georgia Schrader, wife of 30 years; as well as his parents Clarence and Melvine Ingraham Schrader; brother Lewis Schrader, brother Otis Schrader, sister Huldah Wickham, brother Clifford Schrader, and brother Archie Schrader.

He is survived by his brother Delbert (Wanda) Schrader of Rathdrum, Idaho; stepson James Sattleen of Cusick, WA; as well as numerous nephews and nieces, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Melford attended Newport High School, was drafted into the Army in 1953 and discharged in 1955.  He worked in a tire shop in Kellogg, Idaho and Spokane Valley, drove logging truck and gravel truck for Diamond International then worked in the sawmill until he retired.

Melford liked to gather with family and friends, enjoyed dancing and playing the piano, camping and his favorite was going for drives with his wife, Georgia, for which there was not a road they had not traveled in Pend Oreille County if only to see what was around the next corner.  He was a member of the American Legion and was a long-time member of the National Grange Association.

The Memorial Service will be October 12, 2019 at Newport Cemetery at 1 p.m. with a potluck gathering to follow at the American Legion in Cusick, WA.  Sherman-Campbell Funeral and Cremation Services in Newport is in charge of arrangements.  Family and friends are invited to sign the online guest book at shermancampbell.com.
