Just a glimpse of Matt's life as written by his wife of 45 years to be shared with family
and friends.
Matthew Lee Fouquette was born to Sue Anne and Gordon Fouquette
in Lodi California on June 23 1954. He was soon joined by sister Felica and brother
Grant.
He attended school through his high years in Galt California . About that time his
family moved to Priest River Idaho. Matt worked for the forestry service in and
around the Priest Lake area. Then he moved on to a job with the school district in
Sandpoint. He often spoke fondly of his job there as a janitor. He worked there until
illness forced him to resign.
It was about this time that he met Lauriel. They married on June 16 1979. Their
daughter Malinda was born on March 5,1982, followed by son Andrew on December
12,1985. Malinda married Chris Stein and blessed the family with grand daughter
Karlee Rose now 12 and grandson Mathies now 4.
Matt worked at Rockwood retirement community for 23 years. During that time he
went from being a janitor to becoming a stationary engineer.
He moved on to other jobs and then settled in at the Spokane club until health issues
forced him to apply for disability.
Throughout the years Matt enjoyed many happy hours in, around and under the
many cars and trucks he owned. He was alway happy to attend car shows with son
Andrew and son-in-law Chris.
He enjoyed endless hours on the computer playing games and interacting with
friends and family.
When unable to work anymore he took over the duties of the house as Lauriel
continued work as a nurse. He loved to cook and was quite creative with leftovers.
He loved to travel and had many trips around the states with family. He loved the
Oregon coast. The lighthouses and beaches for walking and beach combing
He was kind, compassionate and loving. Alway concerned more about others than
himself. No matter how sick he was, if you asked him how he was the answer would
alway be "Oh I'm ok."
"So for now until we meet again. I love you all so very much. And yes. I'm more than
Ok."

A graveside service will be held Wednesday July 17th 2024 at 10 AM a the Newport Cemetery in Newport, WA.
