Obituary

Matt Brian Pumnea passed away August 26th, 2024.  He was born in Wallace, Idaho on September 30th, 1957, to Forrest and Glenna (Kip) Pumnea.  He attended high school in Florence, Montana before attending the DeVry Institute in Phoenix, Arizona where he finished top of his class. He later became the owner and operator of Pumnea Construction in Priest River, Idaho.

Matt is survived by his sons Trevor Pumnea and Bryan Sinclair, brothers Craig and Brett Pumnea, and sister Dawn Pumnea.  He was preceded in death by his parents Glenna (Kip) and Forrest. He was also the proud grandfather of four grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Matt had a passion for snowmobiling, mushroom hunting, waterfall and pond construction, and building golf courses.  He could visualize projects and make them reality. A few projects include Priest Lake Memorial Garden, 2nd nine holes on Priest Lake Golf Course, the Nordman Snowpark, Priest River Middle School Baseball Field Renovations, and countless logging roads and snowmobile trails. The family spent immeasurable hours maintaining and enjoying the snowmobile trails in North Idaho.

Matt had a creative mind and passion for his visions and contributed to the community and all that knew him. His quick wit and jokes could change the atmosphere of a room. He was a very kind soul with an infectious smile and was loved by many.  A celebration of life will be held at the Popeye's Bar in Priest River September 27th at 3 PM.
