Mary Lou
Robinson
Apr 24, 1931 — Mar 7, 2024
Spokane
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mom, Mary Lou Robinson on March 7, 2024. Mom was born on April 24, 1931 in Helena Montana. She grew up in the Butte area with support from her 6 uncles, one aunt and her feisty Irish grandmother. In her teen years, she moved to Metaline WA. with her mother Mae Hennelly and stepfather Lynn for work in the local mines. While there she met our future dad "Beanie" Robinson. They were married on December 23, 1948. Soon they were joined by 3 daughters Penny, Cheryl and Cindy. Dad eventually decided to start his own trucking and excavating business and Mom was right there as his right-hand "man" while at the same she was taking care of the house and kids. She was always cooking up some scheme with us ...such as deciding to cut a frozen whole cow liver on dad's radial arm saw, and he was not very happy with the mess left behind on the walls and the saw or deciding to go to Colville to get a few pumpkins to carve for Halloween and when we headed home the car was so full we drug bottom on every slight bump or dip but we did get them carved. Later Mom decided to take training to become an EMT for the local ambulance, she did well with that and loved being a part of helping people in distress or pain. Soon she started acquiring grandchildren and great-grandchildren and each one was a "sugar ball" and she loved them fiercely. After Dad passed, she picked up the reins and continued to run the trucking business with the help of many great employees. Eventually, the ugly disease of dementia caught up with her and she was inclined to stay at home. Even with that she delighted in summer and creating summer gardens full of beautiful flowers and with fall it was not advised to disturb her during a Zags basketball game. With time she needed more help with her care so moved to Spokane to be with her daughter and then was moved to a memory care unit for her last two years. She put up a valiant fight right up to the end but now she has all her memories back and is pain-free. Mom was preceded in death by her mother Mae Hennelly, all 6 of her uncles, great-grandmother Mamie Moody and aunt, Jessie Rawlings, her husband of 52 years "Beanie" Robinson and daughter Cheryl Robinson. Survived by her daughters Penny (Jerry) Woelk, and Cindy (Darroll) Woelk. Three grandchildren Anna (Robbie) Brown, Darroll (Lisa) Woelk, Jennifer (Mike) Herman. Great Grandchildren Elizabeth, Wesley, Avery and Owen, Emma, Ashlyn, Hailey, Lena, Dustin, Olexis, and Shasta. Per mom`s request, there will be no memorial service, only a private family burial. In her memory, please hold your loved ones and let them know they are loved every single day. Sherman-Campbell Funeral Home in Newport WA. is in charge of arrangements.
