Marjorie passed away on July 8 th , 2021, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Spokane WA., on January 31 st , 1936, the 7 th born in a family of eight children. Her mom passed away early in her life which required her and some of her siblings to live at the Hutton Settlement for children until her older sibling was able to care for her. She attended Browne elementary then graduated with honors from North central High school. She was a member of the Red feathers and Color Girls along with many other groups. She met her husband, Larry, at an ice cream parlor in Spokane. Soon after high school, he joined the armed forces and they married on Dec 26 th , 1954 and left for Texas where they began their life together. The family moved to Newport in 1958 and built their home on the Pend Oreille River where they raised their children. She was a homemaker for several years then became a secretary at the Sadie Halstead Elementary. She spent most of her time raising her children, going out to the beach, and could be found with her family either on the ski hill or on a high alpine backpacking trail, always caring for and supporting her family and students that she was with. In her later years, she continued to love and laugh with her grandchildren. She was the best playmate that any child could ever have. She always had her sausage dog sidekick, Wilbur, beside her whom she loved so much. She loved watching the birds, animals, and the beauty that she saw daily in her back yard. She especially loved her sunsets over the river. She was vibrant, colorful, and bubbly.
Marjorie is survived by her husband, Larry Shaw, and her children Steve (Holly) Shaw, Charles (Nancy) Shaw, Kyle (Geri) Shaw, and Jeannie (James) Larson, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Violet Anderson, brothers William and Robert Anderson and her sisters Marcella Boehme, Lois Reeder, Velvagay Barranco, Joanne Phillips, and Irene Delvechio.
A celebration of life will be held on July 24 th , 2021, starting at 2:30 p.m. at her son, Kyle Shaw's home at 241 Big Sky Road, Blanchard Idaho 83804. Friends and family are invited for remembrance, festivities, and music. There will be signs along the way.
