Marjorie (Marge) Lee Harmon

July 5, 1943 – April 29, 2021

Marge was born in Butte, Montana, July 5, 1943 to Joe and Helen Pordon. From Butte, the family moved to Helena. On a snowy Christmas Eve in 1955 the family moved to Spokane Washington, where her dad and mother bought a business, a book bindery, in downtown Spokane.

In 1961 she and Larry were married at the "Hitching Post" in Coeur d' Alene Idaho. They were blessed being married for 60 years and raised a son, Rock, and a daughter, Rhonda, whom they knew were gifts from God. They were the joy of her life.

They lived in Spokane until 1987 when they moved up north to their beautiful property on Rocky Gorge Road, where she was content in being with her hubby.  Then in 2016, they moved back to Spokane (the Colbert area).

She loved all her dear friends, but most precious to her were her husband Larry, her son Rock and his daughter Annalee Martinez, her husband Luis and their son Riddick, her daughter Rhonda and her husband Roger and their daughter Nikki.

Marge was preceded in death by her father and mother, Joe and Helen Pordon. She is survived by the above-mentioned husband, children and grandchildren, along with her sister Marilynn Stults and husband Bud; her brother Dave Pordon and his wife Glenda; sister-in-law Alice Bel and her husband Gary and her nieces, nephews and cousins.

Before Marge married Larry, she worked at the Davenport Hotel serving banquets; and for a podiatrist and optometrist as a receptionist. After they were married and their children were in school, she worked 11 years as a building aide at Whitworth Elementary.  Marge loved her family and the good times they had, reading books to Rock and Rhonda when they were young, helping them with their homework, being the referee of their water and paper fights with their Dad, riding bikes after dinner, taking drives to see the deer up north, camping trips to Canada, Mt Rainer, Lolo Pass and Whidbey Island.

She always enjoyed Granite Falls near Priest Lake, Flathead Lake, the wonderful hours spent at their cabin at beautiful Horseshoe Lake; swimming, rowing the boat, riding motorcycles all over the mountains, fishing for land-locked salmon and going to Disneyland!

She and Larry helped in the AWANA ministry for many years and loved helping the children hide God's Word in their hearts; praying that, as they grew up, they would find answers to life, clinging to the Word of God. As she would read the Bible, something would cause her to want to always talk it over with a friend.  The times in God's Word were so comforting, uplifting, and incredibly encouraging to her.  Marge cherished all the many good memories made while together with her family and friends.

Marge is with Jesus in heaven now, and most importantly, she wants you to be there when it is your time.  The only way to heaven is knowing Jesus as your Savior.  Jesus tells us in (John 14:1-6) "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.  In my Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am you maybe also.  And where I go you know."  Then Thomas asked Him, "Lord, we do not know where you are going, and how can we know the way?" Jesus answered him, "I am the way the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except by me," Jesus also said, "believe in me and you shall be saved."

The family would like to express its deepest gratitude for all the prayers and to Marge's care givers, Mary Jo, Kim, Pam, Jamie, Linda, Horizon Hospice and Spokane Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions be made to The Union Gospel Mission, Spokane, WA.  A celebration of life will be May 22 ^nd at Northview Bible Church at 2pm (masks required).
