Obituary

Marjorie (Marge) Jean Adams was born May 2, 1942 in Newport, Washington, and also passed away in Newport on September 12, 2023.

Marge was born to George and Sarah Lohnes and spent her life in Priest River.  Her parents worked in the area logging camps, Sarah as a cook and George a sawyer.  She had very early memories of bears being on the roof of the cook house, the loggers whittling her wooden figures and putting her on the backs of the camp horses.

Her childhood summers and holidays meant time with her many aunts, uncles and cousins.  The Lohnes, Low and White families would gather for picnics at Luby Bay, swimming and canoeing at her Uncle Jim's resort and holiday celebrations in each other's homes.  So much joy came in each other's company & delicious meals.  Those strong family connections remained throughout her life.

As Marge was growing up the residents of her block of Lincoln Avenue were another family for her.  She spent time in their homes and played with their children.  When her mother passed away while Marge was still in high school neighbors Helen Stewart and Nellie Brown mothered her with their best love and support.  Many of the kids from the block remained lifelong friends.

In June of 1960 Marge graduated from Priest River High School.  Soon after, she married her sweetheart, Roy Adams.  They were married 61 years until Roy passed away in 2022.

After their marriage, they lived on the same block of Lincoln Avenue.  They both knew it was where they wanted to spend their lives and raise their small family.  Their daughter, Teresa, was born in late 1961.

Marge worked at a number of jobs but she is probably best known by a generation of students, parents and teachers as the school secretary at Priest River Junior High.

As Roy and then Marge retired their home became the after school and summer hangout for their three grandkids and all of their friends.  They supplied all the best snacks, played board games, shot hoops and drove the kids to their activities.

When they could get away Marge and Roy loved the Oregon Coast, often renting a condo in Lincoln City for the month of September.

Marge was preceded in death by her husband Roy, her parents George and Sarah Lohnes and her brothers Lawrence and Richard Denton.

She is survived and missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Don Brooks, grandchildren, Sally (Jason) Reynolds, Frank (Heidi) Brooks, Nolan (Jordan) Brooks, great grandchildren, Rowdy, Thomas and Vivian Reynolds, Seth, Stella, Severide, Finn and Watson Brooks and her nephew Terry Denton.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Priest River Event Center on September 30th at 1:00 pm.
