Marilyn Beatrice (Nelson) Carey passed away peacefully on January 10th at River Mountain Village Advanced Care with her daughters at her bedside.

Marilyn was born on March 18, 1937 to Herbert and Beatrice Nelson and raised on a dairy farm in Greenfield Massachusetts.  She was one of eight siblings.

She met and married Roger Carey and together they raised six children. In 1976 the family moved to Blanchard Idaho and then finally settling in Newport Washington.

Marilyn strived to do the best she could with what she had and always made something out of nothing! She was a wonderful baker and cake decorator. She made homemade bread almost daily and the children always came home from school or sports to baked goods! The neighborhood kids and often the sports teams 'wanted in' on those baked goods and the house was always full! Her homemade doughnuts were always a favorite.

Marilyn babysat for several people in the community as daycares were not available. She became "Grandma Carey" to several and fell in love with them as if they were her own. Marilyn went on to babysit many of her grandchildren as her kids worked, she loved being able to help and being a "Mom" is what she knew. She will be dearly missed.

Marilyn leaves behind her six children—Scott, Brian (Kim), Jackie Moody (Troy), Jenny Cooper (Mark), Ron (Toni), and Becca.

Her grandchildren:  Kathy, Josh, Heather, Keith, Davenie, Eric, Kristen, Matt & Penny, Lucas, Emilee and especially Gracee Rose (who came into this world at a time when Gram needed her), Ashley, Amanda, Alex and Alyssa, and numerous great-grandchildren.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Roger, granddaughter Sasha and great-grandson Chance, and great-granddaughter Adaline.

Per Marilyn's wishes there will be no public service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to a local charity of your choice.
