Margaret (better known as Mollie) Cole, 79 years of age, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the Newport Hospital after taking ill last fall.

Mollie was born March 2,1945 in Newport, WA to the late Sherman and Helen Zigler.  Mollie grew up on the family homestead on Calispel Lake enjoying the many challenges of farm life and took much pride in winning blue ribbons with her Hereford steers. Her skills with her hands started at an early age earning her many awards and trips to regional and national 4-H events. She was a lifetime 4-H member.  Mollie was the youngest of two children.  Her sister, Gail (Zigler) Norton preceding her in death.

Mollie met Jim Wren shortly after High School and had one son, Michael Wren.  Because of Jim's job she lived in Colville, WA, Pinehurst, Idaho, and then the Spokane Valley spanning the years from 1970 to 1986. They divorced in 1983. Most don't realize Mollie had learned to ride a motorcycle while living in Colville where she earned her endorsement and proceeded on a 1500 mile journey on her own bike with their son Mike riding behind Jim from Colville to the Craters of the Moon in southern Idaho and back.

When returning to Usk in 1986 for a family visit Mollie's sister Gail introduced her to Lester Cole, the love of her life.  Les and Mollie married at the family homestead on January 1, 1988 and spent many happy years together while running the service station at Cusick.

Mollie had many talents.  She was an excellent cook, baker, a phenomenal quilter, and gardener.  Mollie won many awards for her amazing quilts at the Pend Oreille County fair as well as taking time to make quilts for the new babies in the community.

Mollie was an active member in the Usk Community Center and the museum at Tiger.  Mollie would buy huckleberry jelly and donate it to the Tiger Museum to sell.

She loved not necessarily in this order: Christmas and her decorations, baseball, football, Gonzaga basketball, music, drag racing, and cherry milk shakes. Anyone who knew Mollie knew the most coveted position on this earth would to be one of her pets.

Not only will Mollie's cinnamon rolls, pies, and quilts be missed, she will truly be missed by many in the community. She was extremely well read and succeeded better than a lot of her peers at keeping up with new things like technology.

Mollie leaves behind her husband, Les Cole.  Her son Michael Wren and his wife Oxana. Grandchildren Danielle, Michael II, Anna and Andrew as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends.
