LeRoy Lee Linton passed away peacefully on November 4, 2022, after a battle with cancer. He was born October 24, 1946, to Thomas and Louise Linton in Newport, WA where he attended grade school through high school graduation.

In December of 1965, he met Janice Miller and went on to marry the love of his life on October 22, 1966, having two children, Robert and Karla with her.

After Janice's passing in 2000, he found the second love of his life, Vickie Miles who has been by his side ever since.

He worked various jobs in his younger days including helping Johnny Ovens at age 7 get wood for $2

a day, a daily paper route with Terry Bowerman using a rope around his bicycle tires to get traction in

the snow, Pennell Fur Farm as most local teenagers did.

He joined the Army National Guard in 1965 where he served until 1971. He also worked at various local logging companies from 1966 to 1973 before he started hauling pulp wood for himself.

He eventually went on to work for the Cusick School

District in 1978 as a bus garage mechanic and bus driver until moving to Newport in November 1986. He then took a job with the City of Newport where he finally retired in July 2008. He was a jack of all trades from working on old cars – Studebakers especially – to driving a tow truck and wrecker after hours for many years, to woodworking, to general knowledge. He was the guy to call if you had questions about any kind of project.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, and his wife Janice as well as several older half-siblings. He is survived by his long-time partner, Vickie Miles, son Robert Linton, and daughter Karla Linton as well as numerous extended family members and friends. He will be forever in our hearts.

There will be a graveside service Saturday, November 12 th at 11:00 am with a reception to follow at the Golden China restaurant. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the local Pend Oreille Historical Society or to Hospice of Spokane.
