Lawson Stanford Kaler II was born November 29, 1952 in Seattle, Washington to Lawson and Marion (Trainer) Kaler.  He was raised in Redmond, Washington and later moved with his family to Usk, Washington.  He remained a resident of Usk for over 50 years.  Sadly, he lost his battle with diabetes on March 21, 2022 and his final moments were spent in his home with his family close by.

Lawson first began his career in the logging industry when he worked for his in-laws at Hendershott Logging in Usk.  Later, he spent 21 years with the Pend Oreille County Road Department as a maintenance technician.  After working hard his entire life, he finally retired as Assistant Foreman in 2011.

Lawson was very skilled with his hands and he enjoyed outdoor projects.  He spent much of his free time working in his home shop with welding projects, car repairs, and tinkering.  Many of the family's most treasured heirlooms are the items he crafted for them.  His repair skills were legendary and his ingenuity saved family and friends countless times.  Lawson was instrumental in keeping Pend Oreille County Fire District 5's fleet in service.  Lawson will be remembered for his creativity and as a master of solutions that others viewed as impossible.

Lawson married the love of his life, Sandra Hendershott, February 26, 1972 and they recently celebrated their 50 ^th wedding anniversary.  He was a private man and preferred to spend time with his family most of all.  The family will cherish a lifetime of memories made during activities like raising animals, camping & fishing, shooting, mechanics, and family dinners.  "Bompa" loved spoiling his grandchildren with candy, toys, and attention.  In fact, he had a unique nickname for every one of them.

Lawson was preceded in death by his parents Lawson and Marion Kaler, his brother Benjamin Kisinger, his brother Donald Kisinger, his sister Bette Jo Pike, his father and mother-in-law Waldo and Pearl Hendershott, and his brother-in-law Robert Hendershott.  Lawson leaves behind his wife Sandra, his daughter Lawsandra (Bryant) Kramer of Usk, his daughter Lindsay (Daniel) Hoffman of Moses Lake, Washington, his daughter Leslie Kaler of Usk, and his son Lawson (Stasha) Kaler III of Usk.  He is also survived by his grandchildren Leah Kaler, Brysandra Kramer, Sadie Kaler, Lawson Kaler IV, Kaylee Simmons, Karleigh Cutaiar, and Rylynn Cutaiar.  He is also survived by his brother Robert (Sharon) Kisinger of Orting, Washington, his sister Rosemary (Marc) Gaudreau of Clearwater, Florida, his sister Kathleen (John) Ives of Usk, his sister-in-law Kathy (Loyd) Hastings of Usk, and his brother-in-law Thomas Hendershott of Cusick, Washington.  Lawson will be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday March 30 ^th 2022 at 2pm at Newport Cemetery. Family invites those attending to bring their own chairs for the outside service. There will be a potluck luncheon sponsored by the Usk Community Club following the graveside service held at the Usk Community Hall (2442 Black Road).
