Laura Chitwood, 79, passed Wednesday, October 19 th 2022 peacefully at her home, with family by her

side. She was born November 8 th , 1942 in Paradise, Michigan.

She was the daughter of Leslie and Hattie Stigall.

In 1979 she married the love of her life, Robert Chitwood. Laura loved her family fiercely and in turn,

was beloved by many, she will be missed dearly. She is famously known for her time running the Freedom

Wagon, traveling from rodeo to rodeo with her partner in crime, Robert, to serve the best burgers

around. Many proceeds from their time on the road were donated to deployed soldiers; Laura had a

fierce loyalty to her country and its soldiers, in addition to her friends and family.

She will be remembered by her children and grandchildren with many fond memories of lullabies,

quick-witted remarks, her loving hugs, and many great meals made with love.

Laura is survived by her husband Robert Chitwood, sons and wife Ron and Charlene Hamlin, daughter

and husband Jeana and Troy Hendershott, brother and sister Joe and Linda Stigall, 9 grandchildren, 14

great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Leslie and

Hattie Stigall, son Monty Hamlin, sisters Inez, Esther, June, and brother Jim.

Although it is hard to imagine a life without our family's matriarch, she has given several generations a
