Joseph Arthur McGee III, of Spokane, WA, passed peacefully on June 23, 2023.

He was born in Whittier, CA to Joseph Arthur McGee Jr. and Dorothy Cheney McGee. He previously lived in Newport, WA, and Riverside, CA.

Joe graduated from Whittier High School in 1960 and received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from California State College Long Beach in 1971. Joe served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps, (active until 1965), then Reserves, before being Honorably Discharged. He married Lela Joan McGee on December 14, 1991.

He worked as a Civil Engineer for most of his career. Joe was a member of MENSA, loved to do magic tricks, play the guitar, mine for gold, and collect coins. He loved to read and learn new things. Joe would be happy to tell you what he knew as he enjoyed sharing his knowledge.

He is survived by his wife, Lela Joan McGee, and his three children (by a previous marriage), Joseph McGee, Elizabeth Benson, and Nicholas McGee.  He is also survived by his grandchildren Morgan Benson, Joseph (JJ) McGee, Bailey McGee, Gavin McGee, and Addison McGee; step-grandchildren, Amber Chase, Jason Kirschmann, and John Reib; great-grandchildren, Sean Kirschmann, Joshua Chase, and Talia Chase; sisters Mitzi McVicker and Kaye Gittleman; and many In-laws that loved and cared for him.

Graveside service will be held at 2:30 pm, June 30, 2023, at the Newport Cemetery.
