John William Hampton of Spirit Lake, Idaho went to be with his Lord and Savior November 24, 2019 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident while driving his family to church. John's eight year old daughter, Emily, initially survived, but eventually succumbed to injuries she sustained in said accident and joined her Daddy in Heaven.  John is survived by his wife Dawn Hampton and five year old daughter Alexis of the home; son, Josh Hampton (Katie), grandson Connor, and granddaughter Rowan of Sierra Vista, AZ; son, Vadim Hampton of Phoenix, AZ; daughter, Svetlana Hampton of Phoenix, AZ.

John leaves behind a large extended family who loved him very much: his father and stepmother, Larry Delton and Barbara Hampton of Sun City, AZ; sister, Mary Hampton Howe (Larry) of Clemmons, NC; brother, Wade Hampton (Darlann) of Phoenix, AZ; brother, Thomas Hampton of Sun City, AZ; brother, David Hampton (Julie) of Fountain Hills, AZ;  brother James, Hampton (Angie) of Monroe, MI; step brother, Tony Rutkowski (Amy) of Temperance, MI; step brother, Mike Rutkowski of Minneapolis, MN; mother in-law and step father in-law, Pam and Chris Parmenter of Maricopa, AZ; father in-law and step mother in-law,  Mark and Lindy Marshall of Boise, ID; sister in-law, Brandy Naleski (Peter) of Chandler, AZ;  brother in-law, Jacob Marshall (Robyn) of Phoenix, AZ;  and a large host of nieces, nephews and cousins scattered throughout the country. John was predeceased by his loving mother, Charlotte Rogers Hampton Heier; grandparents, Delton and Mildred Hampton and Gordon and Pauline Dietzman.

If one were to use one word to describe John Hampton, it would be "passionate". John was passionate about his wife and five children. Dawn was his soul mate and he never missed an opportunity to tell her how much he loved her and was so thankful for her.  He told her over and over how his love for her continued to grow with each passing day.  He poured his life into his children. He home schooled both young daughters and read them the Bible every night. He instilled a love for Christ in them both at a very young age.  Early in his life as a young father, he vigorously pursued a relationship with his son Josh even when it was not always easy. Later, he felt the Lord drawing him to provide a new life for Vadim and Svetlana, whom he adopted from Russia when they were ten and eight years old.  John was truly passionate about family. His children would tell you his fun loving sense of humor and kindness was unmatched. He was the goofy/fun dad, uncle, and grandpa that everyone would love to have. His children always knew that he loved and cherished them deeply.

But, John was most passionate in his pursuit of His knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ. If you knew John, you knew he loved the Lord with all his heart, soul and mind. He boldly shared the gospel with everyone he encountered and took a genuine interest in learning about the life story of those he shared with. He loved studying the King James Bible and loved to engage in vigorous debates about scripture and theology. John knew his Bible forward and backward.  Most importantly though, John not only proclaimed the gospel, he lived it every day of his life—whether by helping a neighbor in need, sharing with those less fortunate or through his quiet generosity. He walked the walk daily.

John was an avid outdoors man and lover of nature. He loved to hunt and more recently became involved in animal husbandry (a shepherd like his Lord) to provide healthy, fresh foods for his family.  He was an adventurer who lived in Alaska during his younger years and he and the family loved RV road trips, camping and boating.  John and his wife, Dawn, enjoyed travel to exotic places, including Ecuador and the Galápagos Islands.

John was a musician of the highest caliber and had performed with several professional groups as well as leading worship in church settings. He was currently playing bass with country musician, Troy Bullock, and preparing for upcoming engagements. Troy described John as a very talented and serious musician who loved the mathematical aspects of music, the part that makes it tick. "He was a man's man…when he shook your hand, and looked you in the eye, he meant what he said and he did what he said he would do."

John spent most of his life in the medical profession. He spent several years as a Registered Respiratory Therapist then went back to school to obtain his Nursing Degree as a Registered Nurse.  He worked in the dialysis department at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, Washington and most recently he worked locally as a home care nurse.

John's life is a legacy that will continue in all those who loved him so much. It is his family's prayer that untold numbers of people will seek the Lord as a result of John's direct influence in their lives.  Our hope is that many more will be touched as we share the story of his incredible life's journey throughout our spheres of influence. Rest in peace our dearest John; you and your baby girl Emily are dancing with Jesus.
