Obituary

John William Gardiner of Port Ludlow, Washington, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2024, after a long illness. John was born to Percy and Susie (McGill) Gardiner in Newport, Washington, on April 5, 1945. He graduated from Cusick High School in 1963 and worked at a local mine for a year before enrolling at Washington State University. At WSU, John studied civil engineering and pledged to the Delta Upsilon fraternity. Upon graduation, John landed a job with the City of Seattle, where he worked for 30 years.

John loved cooking and sharing meals with friends and family. In Seattle, he had a home on Lake Union and spent many years sailing. After retirement, John moved to Port Ludlow, where he enjoyed living on the beach and going crabbing on the bay. He also took many memorable domestic and international trips.

John is survived by his wife, Stacia Deshon, of Port Ludlow and her children, Steve (Robin) and Jennifer (Richard) of Tacoma and their children; by his nephew, Michael (Lynn) Gardiner, of Deer Park, Washington and their children and grandchildren; and by many beloved cousins in the Spokane area.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Ted.
