Obituary

Joel David Ecklund, beloved son, brother and husband, of Oldtown, ID, stepped from
this life into the next, on August 16th. He was born on February 8th, 1984 in Brewster
WA.
Joel went to school in the Okanogan school district until his junior year. In 2000 the
family moved to McCall, ID where he graduated from McCall-Donnelly High School in
the class of 2002. Following graduation, he attended University of Idaho for two years
(but identified as a WSU Cougar).
In the summer of 2006, Joel met Lindsey Queen and moved back to McCall to pursue
her, and that's where he felt the call of ministry on his life. Joel and Lindsey were
married in October of 2008. Two weeks after their wedding they moved to Oldtown, ID
to take a pastoral position at House of the Lord, in Oldtown ID. They've raised their
three beautiful children, Alexander, Malachi, and Avery in the Newport, WA/Oldtown
area.
Joel was talented and passionate about many things. He was a studio quality
drummer/percussionist, and taught himself to play guitar, both acoustic and electric.
He wrote songs for worship that lead many into the presence of God. He was an
incredible preacher and communicator, podcaster, an aspiring author and curriculum
writer. He had a love of history and theology that he shared with everyone. He loved to
cook for crowds and wow his friends and family with what he prepared.
It is hard to express how much Joel will be missed on this side of heaven by his family.
He deeply impacted so many and was deeply loved.
Joel is survived by his wife, Lindsey (Queen) Ecklund, his two sons, Alek, 13, Malachi,
11 and his daughter, Avery, 9; brother, Drew Ecklund and sister in law Rachel (Hammer)
Ecklund, his parents Jeff and Robie Ecklund, along with numerous nephews and
nieces, brothers and sisters in-law, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
