In loving memory of

Joe C. Smith

November 16, 1935 – February 26, 2025

Joe C. Smith went home to be with the Lord at the age of 89. Joe was born in Queen City, TX. He was one of ten siblings. When he was a young boy his family relocated to the Oregon Coast, which became a place alive with memories and loads of enjoyment with his family. In 1955 Joe married Susan Berg who has been his faithful companion for 70 years. As a young couple Joe and Susan made the decision to become followers of Jesus. Together they built their home and raised their five children in Battle Ground, Washington. Joe also became "Dad" to their spouses, and "Papa" to twenty-five grandchildren and forty great-grandchildren.

Joe was an entrepreneur. By trade he was a carpenter. He enjoyed building projects as well as homes. Those projects included Battle Ground Baptist Church, The Dunes Bible Camp, Royal Ridges Retreat, Nehemiah Servants, Black Lake Bible Camp, and Glenwood Community Church. Joe also served as a camp board member, a deacon at his church, drove a Sunday School bus, and led bible studies in his home, which all helped to influence numerous others to accept Christ which was his passion. Joe was a friend to many. His family would say you just could not go anywhere without someone calling out, "Hi Joe!"

Join his family for A Celebration of Life service planned for July 12, 2025, at Battle Ground Baptist Church at 11:00 am.
