Jeri Rae
Scheel
Feb 17, 1949 — Mar 10, 2023
Ione
Jeri Rae Scheel
(February 17, 1949 – March 10, 2023)
Jeri Scheel of Ione, WA passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 10, 2023.
Jeri was born February 17, 1949 in Missoula, MT, the daughter of Mildred and
Maynard Lamoreux and was the youngest of four girls. Jeri grew up in Missoula and
after graduating from Sentinel High School in 1967, she married Jim, the love of her
life. Jeri met Jim at age 13 at Bible Camp and it was love at first sight. They married
in June 1967, and then moved to the Scheel family farm in Valier, MT, where Jeri went
from a city girl to farmer's wife, cow hand, right hand "man". Jeri learned that
husbands and wives are a team on a farm, you have no other choice.
Jim and Jeri had their son, Darin in 1969 and in 1970, they moved to Bozeman
for a year where she worked at Montana State in the College of Education while Jim
attended college. They returned to the farm in 1972. She and Jim were part of the
founders of the Conrad Christian School in Conrad MT. In 1976, Jim and Jeri adopted
their daughter LeAnn, and the family moved from Valier, MT to Spokane, WA and then
shortly after bought their own farm in Ione, WA in 1977, where they still live.
Jeri was a wife, mom and Jim's best farm hand for the first eleven years in
Ione. After eleven years in Ione she went to work outside of the home part time at
several local shops including the Jean Shop, the Sandwich Shop and Bell's Bi Rite. In
1987, she went to work for Dr. Cox at his dental office and worked there for 8 years.
She then worked part time for PUD and as a temporary employee at the Pend Oreille
Mine Site and for Warner Brothers Production of the Postman. She went to work full
time at the PUD Newport Office in 1997 and worked for them for 5 years. In 2003 she
went to work for Teck Cominco Pend Oreille Mine as receptionist and in human
resources and worked there until retiring in 2008.
Jeri loved to play the piano, enjoyed gardening and crafting and enjoyed
interior design. She began married life not knowing how to cook anything and became
a pretty good cook and baker. She was loved for her friendliness, kindness, infectious
smile and positive attitude. Jeri deeply loved and was completely devoted to her best
friend and husband Jim for close to 56 years. She loved working alongside him doing
farm work and as his right hand "man" in anything they did such as remodeling and
landscaping and anything else as long as they could do it together. Jeri was a loving
and supportive mom to her cherished children Darin and LeAnn and was Nana to her
only grandson Trevor whom she loved with every ounce of her being and enjoyed
beyond words.
Even though Jeri left us too soon, we are comforted knowing she is safe with
the Lord, and that we will see her again one day in Heaven. Jeri is survived by her
husband of nearly 56 years, Jim, her two children Darin and LeAnn and her grandson
Trevor as well as her 3 older sisters JoAnn (Eddie) Walker, Peggy Tripp & Cleo Lee. She
was preceded in death by her parents Maynard and Mildred Lamoreux.
A memorial will take place in late spring at Jim & Jeri's beloved home in Ione.
More information will be published once a date and time is set. Sherman-Campbell Funeral Home in Newport, WA is in charge of arrangements. Family and friends are welcome to visit their website at www.shermancampbell.com
