Obituary

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of James Frederick Brigham "Fred" at the age 86. He passed away on June 22, 2019 in Liberty Lake, WA. Fred was born in Newport, WA on December 6, 1932 to Edmund and Muriel Brigham, the youngest of 3 children.

Fred graduated from Newport High School in 1951. He attended Eastern Washington University until he was drafted in the US Army.  He spent most of his service years at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. After being discharged, he attended the University of Washington where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration.

Once finished with his undergraduate degree he moved to San Francisco where he met Lucille "Lu" Cordes.  On April 19, 1958 they married in Minden, NV and the following year the newlyweds migrated north and made their home in Newport, WA.

Upon returning to Newport he attended Gonzaga Law school and practiced law with his father until his passing in 1973.  He continued the practice until 1985 when he retired. With much love and support, Lu and Fred raised five children.

Fred is survived by his sister Patricia Geaudreau, Newport, WA; children Judy McGregor (Ed), Greenacres, WA, John Brigham (Brian Alfertig), Palm Desert, CA, Joyce Moyer (Lee), Maple Valley, WA, James Brigham, Seattle, WA and Jeff Brigham, Burien, WA; grandchildren, Michael (Kelsie) & Katie McGregor, Emmaleigh & Caleb Conner; two great-grandchildren Cola & Theodore McGregor; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Fred was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Lu; brother Edmond "Mike" Brigham and grandson Matthew McGregor.  Graveside services will be held September 13, 2019 11:00 am at the Newport Cemetery.
