Irene Schell of Spokane, WA went to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, August 30, 2021 while surrounded by her family at the Hospice House. She was preceded in death by her husband Oscar; parents Hurbert and Eleanor; siblings Joyce and Melvin and son Timothy. Irene is survived by her siblings Judy, Carol and Gerry: children Glenn and Debbie; grandchildren Kalon, Kyle, Kent and Nicole and 10 great-grandchildren who will all greatly miss her.
Irene was raised on a dairy farm before moving to St. Paul, Minnesota when she was 18. She later moved to Spokane where she raised her children and met and married the love of her life, Oscar Schell. They were married on October 18, 1968.
For 20 years, Irene worked for Safeway Grocery. After retiring she worked for Casper & Magera Construction and School District 81. She stayed involved in the community by volunteering at Corbin Senior Center for 18 years, running the boutique and being a tour guide. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and the Bunko Club.
Irene was a very hard worker and loved spending time with her family. She and Oscar took pride in their home on the Pend Oreille River where they spent their summers making many beautiful memories with their children and grandchildren. Irene was very involved in her family's lives and never missed a holiday or special occasion. She always put her family and friends first and filled their lives with warm and unconditional love. Irene will forever be in our thoughts and hearts.Memorial donations in her name may be sent to Corbin Senior Center, 827 W Cleveland, Spokane, WA 99205.
