Priest River
Helen Pauline Brown, age 82, died on April 17, 2023, at hospice care in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. She was
born October 3, 1940, to Major James M. and Marjorie J. Paul Roberts. She was raised in Coolin, Idaho
and resided in the Priest River area almost her whole life. She spent her younger years helping her
parents working at the Leonard Paul store in Coolin where her grandfather Leonard Paul was the original
proprietor. She attended schools in Priest River, Idaho and Eastern Washington State College in Cheney.
She worked for the Priest River Elementary School cafeteria and drove a school bus for many years before
retiring. Helen loved animals, especially dogs. She had a great talent for machine embroidery and loved to
create embroidered baby blankets for expectant mothers in the area.
Her youngest son, Arthur Brown has always been at her side, and they have been inseparable since he
was born. Helen insisted that a picture of them together needs to be on her obituary page.
Helen is survived by her sons Donald Brown and Arthur Brown. Also, her daughters Linda Brown and
Debra Sample. Helen Brown was predeceased by her husband Richard L. Brown, by her parents,
grandparents and sister Charlotte Roberts Jones.
As per Helen's request, no funeral or memorial service will be held. Donations can be sent to Hospice of
North Idaho, Schneidmiller House, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Sherman-Campbell Funeral Home in Newport, WA is in charge of arrangements. Family and friends are welcome to visit their website at www.shermancampbell.com
