Gregory Allan Bradbury

1949-2024

Gregory Allan Bradbury of Priest Lake, Idaho passed away at home, surrounded by his loved ones, early in the morning of March 12, 2024. His death was a result of a lengthy battle with cancer.

Gregory Allan Bradbury was born at Newport Hospital in Newport, Washington on January 9, 1949. He was an identical twin to his brother Steve. His parents were Edna Mae Bradbury and Robert Edgar Bradbury Jr.

Greg lived in Washington, Idaho, Colorado, and Montana growing up. He was raised by his parents, his grandmother Kathryn Stobie (Van Stone), and his grandparents the Theodore Stentzels of Spokane. He would also like to give some credit to his big brother Bob as well.

Greg graduated in 1967 from Newport High School along with his brother Steve. Both were known for their excellence in team sports.

In 1968, Greg began his military service in the National Guard and U.S. Army Reserves. He served for 6 years. During this time Greg earned the rank of E-6 Staff Sergeant for his medical unit. He was awarded the Army Expert Sharpshooter Badge before he was honorably discharged in 1974.

Greg married Nia Hayfield in 1969. They had two beautiful children, Carmen and Cole. Greg worked at Merritt Bros. sawmill as a day shift superintendent. On August 8, 1981, Greg married Janette Wallis. They were blessed with two sons Justin and Kyle.

In 1983, Greg and his three brothers purchased a sawmill located at Priest Lake, Idaho. Greg, Bob, Doug, and Steve, along with various family members, helped operate the family business that was Priest Lake Lumber Company. Greg retired and shut down the sawmill after his brother Steve died in 2017.

Greg had many joys in life. He especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also loved working for Joe Kelsey and his rodeo stock and going to rodeos. He loved playing softball, coaching little league, watching baseball games, and cheering on the Gonzaga basketball teams throughout his years.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Edna Mae; his father, Robert Edgar Jr., his brother-in-law Harry O'Brien; his brother Robert Edgar Bradbury III; his sister-in-law Caryn Bradbury (Durfee); his brother Douglas Theodore Bradbury; his twin brother Steven Michael Bradbury; his nephew Wyatt Corning; and brother-in-law Dennis O'Brien.

He is survived by his loving wife Jan; sister Arlene Corning (Kenneth); brother-in-law Robert Wallis (Cathy); sister-in-law Kelly; sister-in-law Sandy; daughter Carmen McDonald (Tuffy); son Cole (Cheryl); son Justin; son Kyle (Sydney); granddaughter Madison Marie Bradbury; granddaughter Samantha Austyn Bradbury; his nephews Robert IV, Steven, Jason, Darrin, Jeremy, and Alan; his nieces Lorain, Cheyanne, Jennifer, Angela, Sarah, Amanda, Kelsey; and many grandnephews and grandnieces.

He was a great husband, father, brother, uncle, grandparent, and friend. Greg was "a fine figure of a man," and he will be missed.  In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that you please send donations to the Priest Lake EMT's or St. Jude's Children's hospital.
