Gerald (Jerry) Lavern Lamb passed away on January 9th at his home surrounded by his wife and two sons. Jerry, whom many knew by the name "Stumpy" was born in Blackfoot, Idaho to Lavern and Barbra Lamb on September 14th, 1958, they lived between Blackfoot and Mountain Home before his parents decided to move to Oldtown Idaho in 1970. Jerry spent most of his childhood fishing, trapping, and hunting. He was the self-proclaimed best Ponderay River fisherman in the State of Idaho and any who fished next to him would not argue that. Jerry met the love of his life, a small-town girl from Priest Lake, Vicki Pettit in High School and married her on October 22, 1977. Jerry and Vicki welcomed their first child Adam in 1977, followed by Teresa in 1979 and then Steven in 1983. Jerry started working in the Summers at the age of 10 for Local Farmers. At 15 he worked alongside his mother at the Pantry café as a Dish Washer, at 17 he and his father bought logging equipment and started logging. When the recession in the early 1980's hit and logs were getting hard to sale, Jerry and Vicki loaded up their small family and moved to Camas, Washington where he started his long run in the Sawmill industry. He first worked at Columbia Vista for 6 years running machinery and Grading Lumber, he then worked a couple of years at the WKO mill as a Lumber Grader. In 1987 Jerry and Vicki decided to move back to Idaho and Jerry got a job at J.D. Lumber. He worked there for the next 8 years as a Lumber Grader and later at Quality Control and then as Supervisor. After that, he went to work at D.A.W. in Oldtown that later became Crown Pacific and worked there for 4 years till the mill shut down. Then spent the next 10 years working in Sandpoint at the Louisiana Pacific Planer Mill, where he became the Kiln and Boiler supervisor. He then worked at Tri-Pro Cedar Products for 3 years where he did Planer Set-up and Maintenance. Jerry then went to work at Light House Dressing where he worked until he got sick. Jerry loved to work, and he loved the people he worked with. Jerry loved Hunting, Fishing and anything Gun related, he could have a conversation with anyone about almost anything, he was always really good at getting a laugh out of someone. He loved his Children and Grandchildren so much, but the love Jerry and Vicki shared with each other was special and is something that got stronger every day. He is survived by his beautiful wife of 45 years, Vicki and his two sons Adam and Steve, his daughter in law Charleen, his 8 grandchildren Kaylynn, Josh, Lucas, Beau, Elsie, Sydney, Naia and Amy, 4 Great-Grandchildren Ryker, Conner, Archer and Colson along with his sisters Margie (Wes) Dailey and Lisa (Kendal) Wilson and numerous nieces and nephews. He proceeded to in death by his daughter Teresa and his parents Lavern and Barbra. A celebration of life will be held at Sherman & Knapp funeral home in Priest River on Monday January 16th at 11:00 am followed by a graveside burial, a reception will be held at the Priest River Senior Center around 1pm.
