Obituary

Gerald Eugene Berscheid JR passed away peacefully with Family at his side on May 24, 2026.
He had battled cancer for a year in an effort to remain with his loved ones, but he was called to
walk a different path.
Gerry was born on November 30, 1959 and grew up with his parents and sisters in the Otis
Orchards community of the Spokane Valley. He graduated from East Valley High School in
1978. He retired from an insulation sales position at Thermoguard Insulation, where he worked
in several capacities for over 20 years. He made several lifelong connections with people from
Eastern Montana to the west coast in the business of building for communities.
Gerry was a self-taught carpenter and all-around handyman. He could fix anything. He was a
lifelong NASCAR fan, and enjoyed repairing & restoring a couple different muscle cars. He loved
camping with his boys at Priest Lake, fishing and country music. He achieved a longtime dream,
built a beautiful home and a wonderful life on 40 acres in the country near Newport, WA.
Gerry was honest, kind and loyal, and he passed these traits on to both of his sons. Family was
his highest priority, but he would help and support friends and neighbors, old or just met,
without hesitation.
Gerry is preceded in death by his parents, Gerald Sr and Lois Berscheid, and his sister Debra
Hutchens. He is survived by his wife, Mary, his son Brian Berscheid (Rachel), his son Austin, two
grandchildren, Boyd Berscheid and Bridget Berschied, his sister Kaye Jean Thompson (John) and
his sister Donna Siem (Darwin). His extended family includes nieces, nephews and numerous
cousins, and he attempted to keep connected with them all. He will remain in our hearts.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Gerry's home at 901 Sky Ranch Rd. Newport, WA on
July 25, 2026 at 1PM for all who would like to commemorate a great man.
Donations in honor of Gerald Berscheid JR can be made to the Spokane Community College
Automotive program or the Union Gospel Mission.
