George Mosely was born in Farmington, New Mexico on July 26, 1945, to Otti and Mary Mosely. He graduated from Farmington High School in 1964 and went to work in the oil fields for one year. In 1965, George enlisted in the Air Force and was trained to work on airplanes. He served in Vietnam in the capacity of an aircraft mechanic for 2 years. George remained in the Air Force until 1986 when he retired from Edwards Air Force base.

George relocated to Victorville California post-retirement and began a construction business where he built homes and worked in concrete. George was very creative and loved to build homes and buildings. His last big construction project was his own home located in rural Washington.

George Mosely married Janet Capel November 19,1994. They resided in Victorville CA until 1997 when they decided to move to Elk, WA, where they have resided ever since. It was in Elk that George discovered his passion—mules. They purchased 2 mules in 1998 and George became fascinated with every type of mule. After that, no mule was ever abandoned, starved or abused. George took any mule in and nurtured them with such a tender compassion. Mules loved George. He had an uncanny ability to communicate with them. Each mule that came under his care, held a special place in his heart.

George was very active in the North Idaho Saddle Mule Club. He joined the club in 1999 and loved to work clearing trails and assisted with other projects. George especially loved the back country. Jan and George would spend time riding with the club on overnight expeditions into beautiful wilderness areas. George was happiest when he was riding a mule.

George always had time for people. He loved talking to people over a cup of coffee. No one was a stranger with George. The world has lost a kind, gentle soul. He will be remembered as an exceptional man—one who would go that extra mile for anybody.

George is survived by his three siblings, Bob Mosely, Betty Handley, Mary Mosely, his wife Jan Mosely, stepchildren Katie Silk, John Ferguson and 2 grandchildren, Natalia and Hank Silk. He will be remembered with tears and laughter by every person who had the privilege of knowing him.
