Gary John Warren

April 8, 1963 to May 28, 2022

Gary Warren passed peacefully into heaven on Saturday, May 28, 2022 after a long battle with cancer. May his soul find rest in the Lord's loving hands.

He was born in Amityville, New York, on April 8, 1963, to Roy and Marion Warren. He was educated through Fort Pierce Central High School in Florida, where he graduated in 1981. His extensive career as a restaurateur included a number of years in corporate restaurant management and 21 years ownership of the locally renowned "Mangy Moose". More than clientele, the patrons became friends and family, and his legacy is found in the memories friends and families share remembering his joy and talent for cooking that we recognize as his gift to us.

Gary lived a life without notable grand deeds, wealth or the need for public acclaim, but he touched the lives of many through his love of God and devotion to sharing his faith with others. He lived out his faith, and his giving nature, by offering a free meal when he felt someone was in dire need, as well as volunteering a well-prepared weekly breakfast for all of the local pastors in his community for many years.

While his primary outlet for creativity emanated from the kitchen, he also enjoyed landscaping, aquariums, all animals, and cheering on his favorite teams as a sports fan.

He will be loved and missed by those he left behind: his parents, Roy and Marion Warren – brother, Roy Warren, Roy's wife Debbie, and their children, Matt, Todd, and Jenna – Gary's close friend and mother-in-law, Jan Jager – and his business partner/ex-wife, Lenore Wheaton-Warren.

Gary held his friends close. The following tribute to Gary was posted online by Scott Shirkey, a friend of 32 years: "I probably won't be able to make it (to the memorial) but if I was able to charter a bus and pick up people, from Florida, and here in Texas…and who knows where else…who loved Gary Warren, and those who he touched and influenced…the celebration of his life would have to be held in a football stadium."

Friends and loved ones are invited to attend a celebration of life at the "House of the Lord", 754 Silver Birch Lane, Oldtown, Idaho 83822, on June 18 ^th at 1:00 pm. A reception follows with coffee, dessert and fellowship.
