Obituary

Gary was born in Spokane, WA.  He graduated from University High School.

Throughout his life, Gary worked in construction, roofing, general handyman and yard work, as well as detailed and sold cars.

Gary was an amazing uncle and delighted in his nieces and nephews.  He cherished his parents and considered his siblings his best friends.  Gary was always willing to go out of his way to lend a helping hand, and it wasn't uncommon for him to stop everything he was doing to meet the needs of others.

Gary was a great conversationalist and could talk to anyone for hours.  His favorite conversation topic was Jesus and his faith.  Gary always had an optimistic outlook on life.  If you asked Gary how he was, he would always reply with 'I am blessed and highly favored!'

Gary spent time at the Union Gospel Mission and ministered to individuals who struggled with addiction and alcoholism.  It was fitting as Gary himself was delivered from alcoholism while visiting the Healing Rooms in Spokane, WA around 5 years ago.

He is preceded in death by his sister Heather (DeChenne) Kawamoto and brother John Curtis.  He is survived by his parents Alan and Sonja Curtis, siblings Jack (Stacia) Curtis, Christopher (Jenny) Curtis, Edward (Laura) Curtis, Carrie Foote, Shane DeChenne, Wilfred Curtis, Dorothy (Adam) Ackerman, Chelsea (Mark) Earls, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Saturday, December 19th at 1p.m. at the Sherman Campbell Funeral Home, 43 Wisconsin St., Priest River, ID.  There will be a viewing from 12:00-12:30pm.  Graveside service to follow at Seneaquateen Cemetery, 9 miles East of Priest River on Dufort Road.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Gary's name to either the Healing House, c/o Healing Rooms Ministries.115 E. Pacific Ave., Spokane, WA 99202.  Or The Union Gospel Mission, 1224 E. Trent Ave., Spokane, WA 99202.

Honk honk, Gary! Until you are better paid!
