Esther May
Best
May 15, 1928 — Jan 28, 2026
Priest River
Esther May Best passed away on January 19th, 2026. She was born to John Basil Kimzey and Gertrude Gehman Kimzey on May 15th, 1928, at her grandma Gehman's home in Boise, ID. Her family homesteaded on Thimble Creek above the Boise River and the Arrow Rock Dam until the death of her father when she was 8 years old. From there, the family left the homestead and moved to Middleton, ID. In 1946, she married George Orman Best. They farmed on Pleasant Ridge and had 3 children: Betty, David, and Jeane. In 1956, they moved to Priest River, ID, where Esther went to work at the Pik Kwik store in the hardware department, and Orman went to work for John Deere as a mechanic. They spent many years fishing, hunting, picking huckleberries, and traveling.
Esther enjoyed being outdoors, raising a beautiful flower and vegetable garden, raising honey bees, and even gardening into her early 90's. She pursued hobbies in home canning, quilting, sewing, crocheting, knitting, woodworking, and made a wicked good lemon pie.
Esther was the last survivor of her 8 siblings. She is survived by her children, David Best (Linda), Betty Creviston (late Don Creviston), and Jeane Best. Her grandchildren are Jeff Best (Belynda; children Jade and Jacob), Jason Best (Rebecca, children Justin, Jordan [Taia; child Riplin], and Brooklyn), and Keith Creviston (Rayanne, Donna Creviston, Gail Menne (Jim), Wendy Iwano, and numerous more great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Esther was loved by all and will be greatly missed by her many friends and family members. Graveside services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Priest River, ID, on Wednesday, February 11, at 12 o'clock noon.
