Ernie Sparks: A Life of Love and Adventure

In Loving Memory of Ernie Daniel Sparks
May 17, 1966 – November 23, 2024

Ernie Daniel Sparks, a devoted father, loving partner, cherished brother, and proud veteran, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Priest River, Idaho, on November 23, 2024, at the age of 58. Born in Newport, Washington to Leatrice and Melvin Sparks.  Ernie grew up in North Idaho surrounded by the natural beauty that he loved throughout his life.

A man of strength, kindness, and adventure, Ernie proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1985 to 1989.  After his service, he attended ITT trade school acquired a degree as a low voltage electrician.  This career path led him to work on dry kiln installations across the country and around the world. Later in life Ernie transitioned to an inside wireman which he pursued until his retirement.  Whether wiring businesses in distant cities or troubleshooting systems in far-off places, Ernie brought his sharp mind, hardworking spirit, and easy laughter to every job. Yet no matter where his work took him, his heart always led him back to Idah to the rivers, forests, and family he loved.

A true outdoorsman, Ernie found his greatest joy in fishing, hunting, and the quiet beauty of nature. But above all, he cherished his family. He was a devoted life partner to Judy Hansen and a loving father to his daughters, Tanya, Lynette, and Meagen. His bond with his siblings—Dick, Gene, Tom, and Carol—was unbreakable, and his dogs were his faithful companions on every journey.

Ernie's warm smile, generous heart, and adventurous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, guns, and the quiet strength of a life well-lived.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at Priest River Cemetery on May 16, 2025, at 1:00 PM, followed by a celebration of life at the VFW Hall, where friends and family can gather to share stories, memories, and the love Ernie inspired in all of us.

Rest easy, Ernie. Your memory will forever be a blessing.
