Elizabeth (Betty) Sutton went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ early Sunday morning, September 8th. Betty was the last of 8 children born February 1, 1937, to Christ Emil and Sabina Christensen in Reardan, Washington.
Betty graduated from North Central High School in Spokane, Washington. Betty married Joe Sutton in 1957, and they moved to Easton, Washington. In Easton, she worked as the school's secretary and part-time for the U.S. Postal Service. Betty and her family moved to Yakima in 1970, where she then worked full-time at the U.S. Postal Service for 20 years. Joe and Betty moved to Newport after they retired to be closer to their siblings. She loved many types of arts and crafts and playing games with her family and friends. Betty was a dedicated and faithful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years Joe Sutton, by daughter Jo Ann (Paul) O'Bernier and their children, Erin (Andrew) Fite and Sarah (Jared) Fite O'Bernier, daughter Janet (Doug) Doty and their children Jeff Doty and Kristina (Sean) May, son Ron Sutton, and great-grandchildren Elizabeth Fite, Lily Fite, Emily Fite, Liam Fite, Lucy Fite, Laura Fite O'Bernier, Jackson May, Rory May and sisters-in-law Geralee Christensen and Barbara Christensen.
She was preceded in death by her parents Christ and Sabina Christensen, brothers Bob, Kenny, Harry and Chris Christensen, and sisters Marie Remmers, Margerie Wandler, and Ruth Zigler.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, October 5th at the Sherman Campbell Funeral Home in Newport, Wash. There will be a reception for family and friends to celebrate the life of Betty at 1 pm at the clubhouse at Shenandoah Mobile Home Park, 14600 N Bear Creek Lane, Mead, Wash.
