Dorothy Jean Wright left us to be with her loving husband Daniel D. Wright and the Holy Father on May 24, 2023 at the age of 92.  After graduating from Rogers High School, she attended Kinman Business School and worked with her father as a secretary for the Carpenter's Union in Spokane, WA.  Dorothy met the love of her life Daniel D. Wright after being introduced to each other by her sister Bonnie and husband Steve McNamee.  The couple lived in Spokane where during this time Daniel served in the army.  He was stationed in Germany and Dorothy and infant daughter, Laurie, joined him for a year. After leaving the Army Daniel became an Operator Engineer where he worked in the Inland Northwest, Alaska as well as Expo 74.

Dorothy and Daniel Wright moved to Elk with their three daughters in 1965 where they enjoyed farming and living on the Little Spokane River. Dorothy was an active member and Business owner in the Elk community. She became a member of the Elk church where she volunteered in the office and as a Sunday school teacher.  She worked for the Teen Council at the Inland Grand where she found great joy in working with the youth of the community. She also worked for the Spokane Parks and Recreation where she ran children's activities at the Elk Park during the summer.  She was a lifetime member of Elk Homemakers and served as an officer for many years.  She started the Elk Days Cake Walk, Yearly Plant Sale and scholarship program.  Dorothy was a T.O.P.S member who received her goal status as a K.O.P.S. She was a member of the Country Church of the Open Bible where she was a Sunday school teacher, Junior church and Bible school teacher and director.  In 1987 she went to work at Sunshine Daycare for Evelyn Speers and worked with her dear friend Vickie Barth.  In 1988 her and her daughters purchased the daycare and operated it with love for 33 years. She was proud to provide a fun, safe place for the hundreds of children in our community who attended. She was known to many as Grandma Dorothy from Sunshine Daycare. She lived a long and beautiful life surrounded by her loved ones which were many.  She has left behind a legacy that will never be forgotten.

She is survived by her three daughters and dog Poppy, Laurie & Ron Schroder, Lynn & Lyle Schluter and Danette & Randy Grow. 10 grandchildren: Danele & Danni Glaspey, Heather & Joe Saladin, Jenny Bohs, Martina & Ryan Coordes, Carlee & Jason Pangerl, Christine & Bjorn Otsby, Shelby & Melissa Grow, Ronnie & Candice Schroder, Andy & Sami Grow and Tabitha Grow. 19 great-grandchildren. And the many nieces and nephews that she held so near to her heart.  Dorothy was preceded in death by her mother Avis and stepfather Ralph Foster, father Earl Nimz, her two sisters Bonita & Stephen McNamee and Virginia (Puggy)& Larry Collins.
