Obituary

Donald Leonard Easley passed away January 8, 2022. Don was born on February 11, 1932 to Leonard and Mabel "Peggy" (Giem) Easley in Newport, Washington as their second and last child.  Don was a lifelong resident of the Newport/Priest River area.  He served in the U.S.A.F. from 1950-1954.  Returning home, he began working at the Diamond International Mill in Oldtown and started his family.  In 1963 Don and his father purchased the Union Oil bulk plant in Newport selling it in 1973.  Don then did a variety of jobs from ranching and logging on his property to carpentry work.

Don enjoyed working around his property, taking care of his apple trees and managing his tree farm

property.  When not outside, Don enjoyed bowling, having coffee at the Rio, playing cards and bingo, and was a regular at Okay Lanes, Newport Hospitality House and area casinos.  Up until a few years ago, he also enjoyed going to Arizona for the winters and leaving the cold and snow behind.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, sister Evelyn (Easley) Reed, and great-grandson Michael Pearson.  He is survived by his daughter Janett Anselmo, son David (Susan) Easley, grandsons Michael (Marian) Pearson, Steven Anselmo, Robbie (Kelly) Easley, Allen (Samantha) Easley, 6 great-granddaughters and 2 great-great-grandsons.
