It is with much sadness that the family of Dolores Mae (Dee) Burkey (Age 83) announces her passing away at home on August 2, 2019. Dee was preceded in death by her husband Marv Burkey. Dee is survived by her sister Betty (Leo) Frei of Lenore, Idaho. Dee is also survived by her children Mike (Leslee) Cunningham of McCall, ID, Jeff (Karen) Cunningham of Newport, WA, Sari Iwanow of Tidewater, OR, and Frank (Karla) Cunningham of Newport, WA. She is also survived by several grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Dee was born in Wayzata, Minnesota. Dee graduated from Spooner High School in Wisconsin where she excelled in choir and violin. Her first child was born in Wisconsin in 1954. Shortly thereafter she and her husband moved to Idaho. Dee has been a resident of Washington or Idaho since her initial move to Idaho. Since 1973 she had been a resident of the Newport area. Dee was a hard working mother and wife and worked hard to provide a loving home for her family. She loved her family and cared about their lives and families. She also loved yard work and gardening and always had extra goods to share with the neighbors. Dee often could be found providing a helping hand to those who needed help and support. Dee also worked for many years as the manager of the Eagles bar and was a good friend to many of the patrons that stopped by. Please help us in giving praise to the life she lived, the family she raised, and the many friends and neighbors her life impacted.
