Debra Jean Zwarg's Obituary
With profound sadness and enduring love, we announce the passing of Debbie Jean Zwarg,
who left this world on August 20, 2025, after a courageous 15-month battle with ALS (Lou
Gehrig's disease). She was 70 years old, and her legacy of kindness, strength, and joy will live
on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Born and raised in Spokane, Washington, Debbie was the beloved daughter of Bob and Janice
Mager. In January 1986, she married the love of her life, Ken Zwarg, and together they built a
life rooted in family, hard work, and adventure.
They settled on "the Ranch" in Newport, WA, where Debbie's passion for horses and the outdoors flourished.
Her greatest joy was raising her two daughters, Sara and Amy, whose lives were shaped by her
unwavering love and example. For 39 years, Debbie and Ken ran a successful machine shop
and engine business, a testament to their dedication and partnership.
Debbie never met a stranger, she found friends wherever she went, whether traveling to rodeos,
barrel races, or through her work. She joined the Newport School District in 1996 and retired in
2020, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and positivity. Known for her adventurous
spirit and ability to see the best in every situation, Debbie brought light to every
season—decorating, playing bingo, and shopping with delight.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Janice and Robert Mager. She is survived by her
devoted husband Ken; her daughters Sara Zwarg and Amy Zwarg; her sister Karen (Al) Curtis
and brother Mike (Rhonda) Mager; and her cherished grandchildren Louden, Stevie, and Riggs.
She also leaves behind many close family members and dear friends who will forever carry her
memory in their hearts.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing the Lord has gained a radiant angel.
Debbie's love, laughter, and grace will continue to guide us. Services have not been arranged at this time.
